You can also download your files in a PNG format (which I recommend) with a transparent background, so you can then go and pop your logo on top of any colour or image.
Of course, using Canva means that you’re in the hot seat, and you’ll be doing the design work. If you’re worried, start with just writing the name of your church, and using one of Canva’s Text templates. Simplicity is key, so no one is going to criticise a logo that is completely text-based.
Tip: Canva upgrades not-for-profit organisations to their premium plan for FREE! You’ll just need to provide them with proof of your not-for-profit status. Click here to check out their nonprofit page!
Fiverr is a website that connects you with a whole bunch of designers. You can contact a designer, let them know what kind of logo you’re looking for, and they’ll rustle something up for you, costing from $5 upwards.
While this is an amazing price, there of course has to be a catch, so let me warn you about Fiverr:
There is no guarantee that the designer hasn’t already used the same work for another brand or organisation. So, if you start seeing your logo popping up with someone else’s name, you can’t do anything to stop it.
The other issue is, your designer might place limitations on what you get in your package deal. So, you might only receive a JPEG image, which is not the best quality image for a logo.
If those limitations don’t bother you, then by all means, check out Fiverr!
There are also a ton of other services offered for a fiver on Fiverr, so it’s well worth a look at if you’ve got a project you need a little help on. (I had a lot of fun looking at their pet models page!)
Creative Market is an online hub for graphic designers to upload pre-made templates and designs, that you can then buy for your own use.
You can buy bundles of logo templates for around $30 that you can then open up in Adobe Photoshop and alter to include your church name, brand colours, and any other bits you want to make look more unique.
You could also use the other logos from the bundle to help you brand other ministries at your church, so you really get a lot of bang for your buck!
If you don’t have Photoshop, you can get a free trial for 1 month, so you can download it, get your logo sorted, and then opt-out before needing to pay a fee. You could also try opening your Creative Market files in Pixlr, a free online photo editor (though this is not guaranteed for all PSD files).
The only downside to using a logo template from Creative Market is that you might see some similar logos cropping up around you. The way to avoid this is to make sure you edit your template in Photoshop to make your logo more unique.
This is a little bit of a jump in price, but 99 Designs is one of the coolest websites ever. The idea is that you host a design ‘competition’, where you specify exactly what you’re wanting in a logo, the price you want to pay (there is a minimum of $299), and any other features about your brand, the colours you want etc. You’ll get professional designers from all over the world entering your design competition and submitting different logo concepts. You get to choose your favourite, and then award the ‘prize money’ to the winner!
It’s a cheaper way of getting really professional design work done for you, and the website is very simple to use, allowing you to contact the winning designer online when you need them.
